The recent incident in Las Vegas, where a husband and wife murdered two police officers before fleeing into a Walmart, has generated interest in the self defense community because of the actions of Joseph Robert Wilcox — who was legally carrying a concealed handgun that day.
...From a purely selfish standpoint, I'd point out that we carry a gun for our own defense; the concealed carry license doesn't (nor should it) give us any sort of police power or obligation to protect others. As we've seen in other less tragic incidents, the concealed carrier who inserts him or herself into a situation that they don't completely understand assumes a great deal of both risk and liability; the former can get you killed, the latter can ruin your life.
